Updated: Friday, August 1 2014, 04:47 PM CDT

UPDATE: Police say they've arrested 47-year-old Arthur Griffin for last week's stabbing in South Austin that left a man seriously injured. He's been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a first degree felony, according to court documents.

The arrest affidavit says Griffin and the victim had been in a physical disturbance before the stabbing.

Police say a stabbing victim is fighting for their life at a local hospital after being attacked near a South Austin fast food restaurant Friday night.

Austin police say it happened at around 7 p.m. near the Popeye's located just north of the intersection of Manchaca Road and Slaughter Lane.

Police say the person -- identified only as a male -- suffered multiple stab wounds and was taken to University Medical Center Brackenridge with life-threatening injuries.

Further details on the incident were not immediately available.

We have a crew on the way to the scene and we will update this story as we learn more.
