Austin Fugitive Wanted On Federal Charges

Updated: Friday, June 20 2014, 10:57 PM CDT

A man who pled guilty to federal drug charges skipped town before his sentencing.

His name is Roberto Ruiz.

The 48-year-old admitted to conspiring to manufacture 100 kilograms or more of marijuana.

"He was last seen when he pled guilty before the court. Following his arrest on the 11th he was set to be sentenced on the 27th of May," says Deputy U.S. Marshal Brandon Filla.

He faced up to 40 years but he never showed up to the federal courthouse.

He is among four people charged in that same case.

Filla says, "They're out there trying to make money illegally and also putting other people in harm when they are doing this type of transaction."

His last known address is in Southeast Austin.

We tried to talk with his family but they wouldn't comment on camera.

We also know he once owned the nightclub Club Zota de Oro between 2012 and 2013.

His criminal history involves aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and DWI.

He has family in Austin, Buda and Mexico.

He's 5'08" and weighs 160 pounds.
