Back To School Scramble

Updated: Monday, August 25 2014, 06:49 AM CDT

With school starting in Austin on Monday many families spent their Sunday doing last minute back to school shopping.

"You never know, last minute shopping always happens," Parent Sibel Grimes said.

Parents scrambled for everything from the school essentials like back packs and pens and pencils to first day off school clothing.

"We went to Old Navy to get some clothes for him jeans and some," Grimes said.

And of course the last minute touch ups , like a fresh haircut.

Local barber shop Generations offered free back to school haircuts.

An offer Jeremiah and his mother Crystal Jerrard couldn’t pass up.

"The guy that cut his hair he took his time and he's doing this for free so this is a good way for them to gain business," Jerrard said.

With the hair done and the school bag packed that leaves one more big item to check off any parents list, getting that school morning routine down.

"I'm going to wake up very early around 6:30, I have to be at school at 7:30 and get breakfast ready for him and drop him off at school,"

So that whether you're driving your child to school or waiting for the bus that first day goes off without a hitch.
