Bartholomew Pool Reopens After 5 Years

Updated: Wednesday, June 4 2014, 10:49 AM CDT

5 years and $5.7 million later, Bartholomew Pool in Northeast Austin is reopening. The newly designed aquatic facility features two large water slides, a kiddie pool with a splash pad, a lap pool with a diving board, and an additional pool for older children.

In 2009 structural issues closed the pool. Since then community meetings have been held to gather input from nearby residents. Paul Slutes, Aquatic Maintenance Supervisor with the City of Austin, says he's extremely happy with how it turned out.

The pool opens on June 6 at 8:00 am. A grand opening celebration will be held at the pool on June 14. The public is invited to attend.

The City of Austin is still in need of more lifeguards to monitor pools across the city. To apply for a position click here.
