Bastrop Animal Shelter Overpopulation May Cause Euthansia

Updated: Friday, June 6 2014, 10:35 PM CDT

An area animal shelter is facing overpopulation and possible euthanasia of its animals.

Bastrop Animal shelter has nearly 150 cats and 150 dogs in its care with more coming in.

The director of Animal Services of Bastrop County stated that they need to adopt out 150 animals to prevent any animals from being euthanized.

All animals are currently being adopted for a $25 fee, which includes sterilization, basic vaccinations, microchipping and heartworm tests.

If adoption is not an option, the shelter is also in need of short-term foster families.
