Man Gets 15 Years For WilCo Softball Game Attack

Updated: Monday, August 11 2014, 05:52 PM CDT

A man was sentenced to 15 years in prison Monday for an assault at a Williamson County softball game last year that left a man with a serious brain injury.

Leovardo Cantos was sentenced to prison for the aggravated assault of Juan Davila on Nov. 14, 2013. Cantos was found guilty last month by a Williamson County jury after only thirty minutes of deliberation, the Williamson County District Attorney's Office says.

Prosecutors say Cantos assaulted Davila during a routine play at first base. Cantos knocked Davila down to the ground twice, and kicked him in the head while he lay on the ground.

And prosecutors say that within thirty minutes of the assault, Cantos bragged in a Facebook post about committing the assault.

Cantos had three previous felony probation convictions that he was serving at the time of the aggravated assault -- two DWIs and an assault on a public servant.
