Presidential Visit to Cause Cap Metro Detours

Nine Capital Metro bus routes in the downtown area are scheduled to be detoured due to the upcoming presidential visit to Austin on July 9 and 10.

Service will be detoured beginning mid-morning Wednesday, July 9, through Thursday afternoon, July 10, in the downtown area along Red River, 8th, 11th and 12th Streets. Nine mainline bus routes, along with MetroAccess service, will be affected.

Capital Metro is also anticipating possible delays throughout the day Wednesday and Thursday on all its services, including MetroRail. Riders are encouraged to stay up to date on the latest detour information at, by calling the GO Line at 512-474-1200 or via Capital Metro’s Facebook and Twitter pages.

Signage will be posted at closed bus stops near the IH-35, Red River, 11th and 12th Street area, alerting passengers to the detours and providing alternative stops. Passengers can pick up their bus at any stop along the detoured route.

Please be advised that detours may be altered as circumstances dictate.
