Reward Increased to $13K For Information On Wanted Sex Offender

The Texas Department of Public Safety has increased the reward for one of the 10 Most Wanted Sex Offenders in Texas.

The reward for John Arthur Volker, 50, was increased to $13,000 for information leading to his arrest if the tip comes in during the month of August.

Volker is wanted for probation violation.

All tips are guaranteed to be anonymous.

Officials say Volker has ties to several cities in the Houston area, including Splendora, Spring, Conroe, Humble and Houston. He has also previously resided in southern California, near Los Angeles and San Diego.

In 1999, Volker was convicted of sexually assaulting two young girls. He was sentenced to seven years probation and was required to register as a sex offender.

Officials say Volker was living in Humble at the time of his conviction, but a month later moved to Houston. Volker failed to register his Houston address.   In 2000, the Harris County Sheriff's Office issued three warrants for Volker's arrest for two counts of Indecency with a Child and one count of Failure to Register as a Sex Offender.

Volker is 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighs approximately 165 pounds. He has been known to work in restoration jobs.

To be eligible for the cash rewards, there are four different ways to provide anonymous tips:

*    Call the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-252-TIPS (8477).
*    Text the letters DPS - followed by your tip - to 274637 (CRIMES) from your cell phone.
*    Submit a web tip through the DPS website by selecting the fugitive you have information about, and then clicking on the link under their picture.
*    Submit a Facebook tip at by clicking the "SUBMIT A TIP" link (under the "About" section).
