Rubbernecking Causes Hwy 183 Backup

Updated: Friday, July 11 2014, 03:57 PM CDT

Traffic on Hwy 183 was very heavy Friday morning after a rollover wreck, followed by a second crash, thanks to some rubbernecking. And we caught it on camera.

It started in the northbound lanes at Loyola Lane just before 6 a.m. and a few minutes later the second crash happened on the southbound lanes.

The rollover wreck was a sight to be seen. The SUV was on its side, with lots of police activity -- then a three car pile-up, thanks to rubbernecking.

And then of course southbound Hwy 183 traffic was a mess. Both sides were down to one lane and it took almost two hours to clear up.

So as tempting as it may be, there's a reason we tell you to keep it moving and to not rubberneck.
