Sex Crime Suspect Faces New Allegations

Updated: Friday, August 22 2014, 10:57 PM CDT

A nine-year-old says she was sexually abused in a South Austin neighborhood. She accuses Johnny Lee Robbins of the crime.  Abuse she remembers going on since she was at least five years old.

The child was taken to Dell Children's Medical Center for an exam. The results of the exam, and the details in her interview with police were enough for a first degree felony charge of aggravated sexual assault.

This is not Robbins first run in with the law. His record is riddled with theft charges, drug possession and just this April, he was charged him with child pornography.

The child porn charge is what makes Robbins a unique suspect.  According to the Texas Department of State Health Services, sex offenders do not often reoffend after being arrested or convicted.

The agency cites a 2004 study that showed sex crime recidivism rates were thirteen percent.  General recidivism rates were nearly 37 percent.

His background however, will likely lead to a harsher sentence if convicted.  He faces life in prison.
