Texas Quintuplets start at UNT

Updated: Monday, August 18 2014, 11:00 AM CDT
DENTON, Tx.-- (KTVT)--Many parents are dropping their kids off at college and it's special time for them.  But a north Texas family says it's five times as special for them.

Meet Maria, Enna, Jorge, John, and Emilio. Forget about the Brady Bunch, these are the Diaz Quintuplets.

Together, they're all going to college at the University of North Texas.

The five siblings recently graduated from Keller High School and they weren't going to let something like moving away to college tear them apart.

"We were most likely all going to end up going to the same school," said Enna.

"We're really excited. It's a lot of fun," said Maria.

It turns out, UNT had a program of study for each of them and they all had the grades to be accepted. The "Quints" as they're called moved into West Hall.

As it's been for their entire lives, they won't be farther than a shout away from each other.

"We always had a room together when we were little. So we still share the same room," said John.

There is one noticeable difference though, no parents.

Mom and dad say they were ready for the big move too.  "This is a moment that we've been planning for all your life. Since they were little kids. This is the day when you see your kids go to college," said Jorge Diaz Sr.

It's a special moment for the Diaz family and one for the history books at UNT.  Admissions officials say never before have a set of quintuplets enrolled together. Texas Quintuplets start at UNT
