The Salvation Army Needs Your Helping Getting Kids Ready for School

Updated: Monday, August 4 2014, 11:37 AM CDT

Back to school drive helping homeless children start the school year off right

From now until August 18th, seven Austin area Men's Warehouse locations are accepting donations for new and/or gently used clothes and school supplies for children experiencing homelessness. MW Cleaners, a subsidary of Men's Warehouse, is helping The Salvation Army get children back to school on the right foot.

Just drop the supplies and clothes in the big red box. You can also call MW Cleaners at 1-877-MW-Clean and they will pick up your donations at no cost to you. USB drives and school uniform clothes (dark blue polo shirts and khakis) are in high demand.

Monetary donations are also a big help, as the The Salvation Army is also working toward raising $50,000 for the cause.

The Salvation Army Austin serves mostly local children and women 365 days a year and depends on community support to function. More than 100 children live in shelters on any given day with two shelters in Austin. The collected school supplies will go to those children as well as 100 others who are living in poverty.

2. Lincoln Village: 6406 N Interstate 35, 2375
