Trader Joe's Opens In Northwest Austin

Updated: Friday, June 20 2014, 05:49 PM CDT

The much anticipated Arboretum area Trader Joe's celebrated its grand opening in Northwest Austin on Friday. This is the second Trader Joe's in the city. The first opened in Rollingwood last fall.

When you walk into Trader Joe's, you are greeted with a lei and treated with live music.

"I feel wonderful," says shopper Wanda Goetz. "We just relocated up here and to have this store open up is amazing."

Goetz is a loyal Trader Joe's shopper and she has her favorite items.

"Their salsa is really, really good. And banana chips," she laughs.

And the store "captain" says there are plenty of items to choose from for all Austin foodies.

"TraderJoe's has over 3,000 unique items in this grocery store," says "Captain" Tim Krzeminski, the store manager.

Eighty percent are private label products. This means there are no artificial ingredients and zero preservatives.

"We take out all the big advertising campaigns, big brand names, and we pass that savings on to you -- so it's just great food, at great prices," says Krzeminski.

And Geotz agrees. So ready to shop she couldn't wait to tell us good-bye.

"Really excited!" she says. "So, I want get back to my shopping!"

The store is located on Great Hills Trail near Hwy 183. Next to open up is Trader Joe's on Seaholm Drive.
