Up Close Look At Apollo 8 Mission Comes To Austin

Updated: Tuesday, June 3 2014, 01:36 PM CDT

A new exhibit coming to the Bullock Texas State History Museum gives you an up close look at Apollo 8.

It was the first successful manned space flight in U.S. history.

The 1968 Exhibit features a full-scale replica of the Apollo 8 command module, the helmet worn by Command Module Pilot James A. Lovell, Jr, and many other artifacts.

The goal is to bring to life a pivotal time in American history through photographs, music, and TV.

In addition to artifacts, there are three interactive lounges. You’ll be able to listen to music, vote in the ’68 presidential election, and challenge friends in a quiz style show.

The exhibit runs through December at the Bullock Texas State History Museum downtown.
