Update: New Braunfels Police Department says Kathryn Walker died early Thursday morning at University Hospital in San Antonio.

According to the Associated Press, Walker jumped from an elevated platform into the Comal River.    The San Antonio Express-News reports that Walker was attempting to back flip into the water and failed to surface afterwards.

Police have ordered an autopsy and will be conducted by the Baxer County Medical Examiner's Office.

An Austin woman reportedly suffered a possible/near drowning in the Comal River on Saturday, according to New Braunfels Police.

On August 02 at approximately 7:47 p.m. the New Braunfels Police Department received reports of a possible drowning at the last tubers exit (on the Comal River) located at the intersection of E. Lincoln Street and S. Union Avenue.

When officers made it to the bottom of the last tubers exit they located a 26 year old female who had been pulled from the Comal River and was not breathing.

CPR was in progress by other tubers when the officers arrived. New Braunfels Fire and EMS arrived on scene and began treating the female victim, who was airlifted to University Hospital in San Antonio TX, in unknown condition.

The female victim did possess vital signs while being treated by paramedics and was identified as Kathryn Walker of Austin Texas.

The circumstances regarding this event are still under investigation. No foul is suspected at this time.
