UPDATE: Man Gets 42 Years For Wife's Murder 20 Years Ago In WilCo

Updated: Thursday, June 12 2014, 06:08 PM CDT

5:55 p.m. UPDATE: Rex Nisbett was sentenced Thursday afternoon to 42 years in prison.

A man was found guilty by a Williamson County jury Wednesday night for the murder of his wife over two decades ago.

Rex Nisbett was found guilty of killing his wife Vicki. She went missing as the two were going through a divorce in December 1991 -- her body was never found.

In Rex Nisbett's indictment he was accused of causing her death by an unknown manner or intending to cause serious injury that caused her death in an unknown manner.

Vicki's blood was found in the apartment she and Rex had recently begun sharing. This is not new information but prosecutors say it was one of the things they saw in the file when they took another look at it and decided there was enough evidence for a conviction.

Former judge Ken Anderson, who was prosecutor at the time, reportedly told family members he could not go to trial without a body. The current DA disagreed and moved forward.

The jury was deadlocked for over a day before determining his guilt.

The sentencing phase began Thursday.

We will update this story as we learn more.
