Cell phone stops concert

Updated: Monday, February 13 2012, 09:20 AM CST
Stop the music! That's just what Music Director Alan Gilbert did when a cellphone started ringing, during a live performance of the New York Philharmonic.

The ringing iPhone interrupted the final movement of Gustav Mahler's Ninth Symphony. When the phone kept ringing in the first row, the conductor stopped the orchestra until it was silenced. A spokeswoman for Lincoln Center says there's a reminder before every performance for people in the audience to turn off their phones.Cell phone stops concert
