Monster emerald could end up in Texas

Updated: Monday, February 13 2012, 09:20 AM CST
We have all seen what emeralds look like. Many are set in rings, necklaces or other pieces of jewelry.

Try to imagine an emerald so large and heavy it could never be worn.

The world’s largest cut emerald was mined in Brazil and called Teodora.  The name means Gift of God.

The whopper emerald weights in at twenty-five pounds. A man from Canada bought the gem, but would not disclose the price. He is now planning to auction at the end of January to the highest bidder.

There is a chance this rare find could land in Texas. A private collector from Houston has offered a million dollars for it.
