Updated: Friday, May 10 2013, 05:42 PM CDT

Texas Ranger investigators will launch a criminal investigation into the West fertilizer plant explosion.

On April 17, 14 people died and 200 were injured.

Texas Department of Public Safety Director Steven McCraw called for the investigation.

"This disaster has severely impacted the community of West, and we want to ensure that no stone goes unturned and that all the facts related to this incident are uncovered," he said.

The DPS said it will release no other information at this time.

"The citizens of McLennan County and Texas must have confidence that this incident has been looked at from every angle and professionally handled – they deserve nothing less," said McLennan County Sheriff McNamara.

West is located about 20 miles north of Waco.
