Nigerian motorcyclists are wearing dried pumpkin shells on their heads after a law was brought in forcing them to wear helmets.

The new law went into effect January 1. It requires all motorcycle taxis and their passengers to wear helmets to cut down on traffic fatalities.

The drivers complain that new helmets are too expensive and have resorted to using the pumpkin shells.

Passengers are also balking at the new law. Many say they won't wear the helmets due to possible diseases that might be carried over from previous passengers and because they fear the shells could be doctored with magic spells.

 Copyright World Entertainment News Network.
A prisoner released early with an electronic tag has begged to go back to jail because he can't stand living with his parents.

Convicted thief Guido Beneventi, 30, from Italy had his sentence reduced on condition that he stay at his mom and dad's home in Palermo, in the south of the country.

But he said that his parents constantly lectured him about his life of crime and then began ordering him around "like a child" and telling him to clean his room.

After a string of fights, he broke his curfew to flee to police headquarters and demanded to be arrested.

He told police, "You are my saviors. I just couldn't take another day with them. They spent all their time telling me how useless I was and lecturing me about everything and ordering me to do housework. It was like being a child again. Prison was better."
 Copyright World Entertainment News Network

A woman in China called police after her boyfriend refused to warm up her cold feet.

Cops received two consecutive calls, one from the woman complaining her boyfriend refused to warm her feet and the other from the man saying his girlfriend was too demanding.

Officers who attended the scene at the rental apartment tried to resolve the issue but found the couple still arguing.

The officer eventually persuaded the boyfriend that it was a man's job to warm his girlfriend's feet but told the woman not to leave her feet there for too long.

The young couple put aside their differences and thanked him for coming out to solve their problem.
 Copyright World Entertainment News Network

Some of the things President George W. Bush has said may be memorable because he misspoke.

1. Misunderestimate. Stated in the immediate aftermath of the disputed 2000 election: One of the first and perhaps most iconic Bushisms (Nov. 6, 2000).

2. “I use The Google” said in reference to the popular search engine (October 24, 2006).

3. "I know the human being and fish can coexist peacefully" (Sept. 29, 2000).

4. "Rarely is the questioned asked: Is our children learning?" was uttered before the first primaries back in 2000 (Jan. 11, 2000).

5. "Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we. They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we” (Aug. 5, 2004)

6. "It was not always certain that the U.S. and America would have a close relationship.” The (June 29, 2006).

7. “I think I may need a bathroom break. Is this possible?” scribbled on a note to Secretary of State Condi Rice during a UN Security Council meeting in 2005.

8. “When the final history is written on Iraq, it will look just like a comma” (September 24, 2006).

9. "We spent a lot of time talking about Africa, as we should. Africa is a nation that suffers from incredible disease." (June 14, 2001)

10. ""The war on terror involves Saddam Hussein because of the nature of Saddam Hussein, the history of Saddam Hussein, and his willingness to terrorize himself." (Jan. 29, 2003)

11. "There's an old saying in Tennessee — I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee — that says, fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can't get fooled again." (Sept. 17, 2002)

Astronomers claim to have found evidence that the planet Jupiter gained weight fast during its infancy.

The research suggests that material from which the planet formed disappeared in just a few million years. And after studying other stars, the U.S. team came to the conclusion that gas giants like Jupiter must grow rapidly.

Details of the group's work were outlined at the 213th meeting of the American Astronomical Society, held in Long Beach, California.

Astronomers examined the five million-year-old star cluster NGC 2362 with Nasa's Spitzer Space Telescope. The research team found that all stars with the mass of the Sun or greater have lost their "proto-planetary," or planet-forming, discs.

Only a few stars less massive than the Sun retain these discs of dust and gas, which provide the raw material for gas giants which are in the process of forming. Therefore, the astronomers concluded, gas giants have to form in less than five million years or they probably will not form at all.
 Copyright World Entertainment News Network

There’s a happy ending to a dognapping story at a California pet store. Orange County Sheriff’s deputies recovered the yellow lab and arrested a suspect.

Twenty-three-year-old Ryan Rickman is facing burglary and grand theft charges in the dognapping case that was captured on tape.

The three month old Labrador retriever is safe and sound, brought back by Maya Carew, Rickman's girlfriend. She received the dog as a Christmas present. She says she didn't know the pup was stolen until she saw the story on TV.

Rickman returned to the store to purchase the pup for its selling price of $1,300. Instead, he was arrested. Deputies say Rickman and an accomplice went to the store two weeks ago and as the second suspect distracted the clerk, they say Rickman grabbed the puppy.

The puppy resembles the dog in the hit movie, Marley and Me. Maya hasn't seen the film, but she loves this pup, so her father purchased the dog.

A man from England, who gave a dog beer, has received the first ever conviction for getting a dog drunk.

Animal control officers said they found five-year-old Bull Mastiff mix Bronx "staggering around, looking confused and generally depressed" after Bronx's owner Andrew Wilson forced Bronx to get drunk on cans of Stella Artois.

Wilson was charged under a law which covers the administration of poisons or injurious drugs to a protected animal and Wilson was the first person to be successfully charged under it.

Wilson was sentenced to 150 hours of community service and banned from keeping warm blooded animals for a year.

Bronx meanwhile recovered well from the ordeal.

 Copyright World Entertainment News Network.
Two German childhood sweethearts, aged six and seven, have been stopped by police from travelling to Africa to elope.

Mika and Anna-Lena were stopped at a train station and police say the kids told them they were trying to get to the airport to tie the knot.

Along with Anna-Lena's five-year-old sister, the three were caught with three suitcases packed with sunglasses, bathing suits and a lilo with them for their 'honeymoon'.

A police spokesman says Mika and Anna-Lena are "very much in love" and that "they were determine to tie the knot under the African sun after seeing a nature documentary together."

Officers say they convinced the couple they would have a tough time getting to Africa without money and plane tickets and while they were sad "they calmed down when they were promised a hot drink and some breakfast."

The kids were also given a tour of the Hanover police station as a consolation.

The couple's relieved parents picked them up and say they can still put their plan into action at a later date if they choose.

 Copyright World Entertainment News Network.
