ACC Hosts Australian Basketball Team

Wednesday, for the second year in a row, Austin Community College hosted a group of high schoolers from the Tasmanian Institute in Australia.
The ACC men's and women's intramural teams took on the Aussies, who have been in Texas since early December. The squads have made their way to Dallas, Lufkin and Houston prior to Wednesday's trip to the Capital City. The boys have played five games on the tour, the girls have played four.
The youngsters have soaked up the Texas culture, while also answering "questions" about their own.
"There's been heaps of questions about our nationality," said Tasmanian Institute guard Grace Lennox. "People don't understand our accents. [They ask us] 'do you ride kangaroos to school, are there koalas just in your backyard?"
The Aussies have also enjoyed the food in Texas, but not your typical Lone Star state fare. "Applebee's is amazing," said guard Kai Woodfall. "It's the best food. Everything here is so cheap and so good. We went to Applebee's, Olive Garden, IHOP and Hooters."
