Barron's Breakfast Break with George Selvie

Updated: Friday, March 28 2014, 12:20 AM CDT

Thursday morning, students at Pflugerville ISD's Ruth Barron Elementary were reminded by a very important person that breakfast is, indeed, the most important meal of the day.

While wearing bunny slippers, Dallas Cowboys defensive end George Selvie joined the Barron Bears for breakfast in hopes of reminding students of the importance of eating a morning meal at school. It was part of the NFL's "Fuel Up to Play 60" initiative.

"I wish I had guys that came to my school and told me to eat healthy," said Selvie. "We were eating pizza for breakfast when I was growing up in school. Having better breakfast and lunches is going to be great for these kids."

Research shows that millions of kids to not eat at all before starting their school day.

Last season, Selvie had a career-high seven sacks. Earlier this month, the Cowboys lost All-Pro linebacker DeMarcus Ware to free agency.

"I hate to lose D-Ware," Selvie admitted. "He was a big part of why I was successful last year on the field so with him gone, they're saying I have to step up a little bit. Everything is a business but I don't control any of that. I just go out there and play football."
