Colt to Shipley...Again

Updated: Friday, April 4 2014, 10:41 PM CDT

With the exception of one year, every season since 2006 there has been a McCoy to Shipley connection on campus at the University of Texas. First it was Colt to Jordan. Then it was Case to Jaxon. The one year there was no McCoy brother to throw to a Shipley brother? 2010. That also happens to be the one and only losing season for Texas between 1997 and 2013.

Good things happen to your team when McCoys throw balls to Shipleys. Apparently the Express want 2014 to be a great season in Round Rock. Because Friday at the Dell Diamond, Colt McCoy threw the ceremonial first pitch to Jordan Shipley.

"I told Jordan he needs to start at third base and run home and dive and catch the ball," McCoy said.

"Hopefully he can put it somewhere close because I'm not trying to dive for anything today," joked Shipley. "I told Colt that we should've played baseball. This is a lot more comfortable than what we're used to wearing."

It was the first Colt-to-Jordan connection since the very first play of the Longhorns' very first possession of the 2009 BCS Championship game against Alabama.
