Gators Hope To Be Number "UNO"

Updated: Saturday, August 3 2013, 09:47 PM CDT

A Sweet 16 berth was in the cards for the Florida Gators.

No. 3 seed Florida knocked off No. 11 seed Minnesota 78-64 in the second round of the NCAA tournament at the Frank Erwin Center in Austin on Sunday.

The Gators told KEYE TV that behind the scenes they always play the card game UNO when traveling on the road.

On the court they're teammates, but it in the locker room it is more cut-throat.

"You just have to think ahead of the game," freshman guard Braxton Ogbueze said. "They are one step behind me."

It is not just luck behind the hand they have been dealt. They said competition during the card game is stiff.

"That is what we call hard work, this perspiration right here, it's called some dedication," freshman DeVon Walker said poking fun at himself.

The Gators said there is possibly just as much pressure to get a big hand than make a big bucket during a game.

"It's actually a lot of work, but when I was born my mama told me I was going to play UNO for a living," Walker said. "So, I think of myself as the Floyd Mayweather of UNO."

While the Gators cut the cards their sights are to cut down the net at the end of the tournament and in the end come out number "UNO."
