Georgetown Still Going

Updated: Saturday, August 3 2013, 09:47 PM CDT
When Georgetown assistant girls basketball coach Kristin Curtis turned her team onto CrossFit, there is no way she could’ve imagined how great it would turn out for the Eagles.

The Eagles had no court, no weight room and no air conditioning this offseason as the school underwent construction.  So they hit the field, in 120 degree heat, and started a new training program.

To say it worked is an understatement.

Georgetown (32-4) heads into the 4A state tournament for the sixth time under head coach Rhonda Farney.  Despite her impressive resume, Farney has not returned to the city with a championship trophy – yet.

"I'm not gonna sit here and tell you I don't wanna win it all, you know, and our kids don't wanna win it all,” said a smiling Farney.  “I am gonna sit here and tell you that that is absolutely not what drives me.  Not at all.  I just want the kids best.  Best effort.  Best game.  And that'll be plenty good enough."

Farney and her girls find out if it’s good enough Thursday night at 8:30.Georgetown Still Going
