McCoy Will Not Start for Cleveland

Updated: Saturday, August 3 2013, 09:47 PM CDT
When Colt McCoy showed up for training camp in Cleveland, he was under the assumption he would get a chance to compete for the starting quarterback job.

According to McCoy, that never happened.

10 days after the Browns started camp, head coach Pat Shurmur named rookie Brandon Weeden the starter, meaning McCoy will not start for Cleveland.  In fact by the end of the day Monday, McCoy was taking reps with the third team.

Last season the Texas-Ex threw for more than 2700 yards, coupling that with 14 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.

When the Browns selected Weeden in the first round of the NFL Draft in April, everyone figured the move was made so he could replace McCoy.

When asked if he wanted a trade, McCoy avoided the question, saying, “We’ll see what happens.”McCoy Will Not Start for Cleveland
