NFL Alumni Join Forces to Help Children

Updated: Sunday, May 11 2014, 11:47 PM CDT

Thursday night, several NFL Legends teamed-up with the Center for Child Protection at the 12th Annual Caring for Kids Banquet, sponsored by Lexus of Austin. At the Lakeway Resort and Spa, several former NFL stars who are now part of the Austin NFL Alumni Chapter, helped raise money for the Center for Child Protection.

The Center is a nationally accredited children’s advocacy center that has been the first stop for children in Travis County who are suspected victims of sexual abuse, serious physical abuse and for children who have witnessed a violent crime. In 2013, the Center served 1,835 children and 1,266 adults.

At the banquet, Tommy Cox was honored as Person of the Year. Several other former NFL standouts, including Ed "Too Tall" Jones, Bill Bates, Bill Bradley and Roosevelt Leaks were in attendance.
