Ricky Williams Rips Johnny Manziel

Updated: Monday, August 19 2013, 09:04 AM CDT

Heisman Trophy winners are an exclusive fraternity. Many play college football, but few are talented enough to be awarded the game's highest honor. Only Heisman winners know what it's like to carry the weight of the most prestigious award in college sports. They often defend their own. Thursday, that was not the case.

When asked his thoughts on Johnny Manziel's headline-filled offseason, 1998 Heisman Trophy winner Ricky Williams did not mince words.

"You know once you win the Heisman trophy, there's going to be more attention on you," said Williams. "You are probably not going to be able to get away with all the stuff you got away with before."

The former Longhorn didn't stop there. He took another jab at the 2012 Heisman winner and his background.

"To the media I would say, if the media did their research on who this kid was, nobody would be surprised."

Last year, Manziel became the first freshman to ever win the Heisman. The Texas A&M quarterback is under scrutiny for possibly accepting payment for autographs signed after his historic season.
