Source: Brown Hasn't Told Anyone He's Stepping Down

Updated: Tuesday, December 10 2013, 06:26 PM CST

This isn't the most tumultuous season of Mack Brown's tenure at Texas -- that would go to 2010. But it hasn't exactly gone the way Coach Brown expected it to either. As rumors swirled of his imminent departure, Brown spent the day on the road in Florida recruiting.

Sources confirm to KEYE TV Sports that Brown has not told anyone he is stepping down.

His tenure at Texas has spanned 16 seasons, but his programs' struggles over the last four have caused everyone to wonder what his future is.

The Alamo Bowl is holding a press conference Thursday morning at 10 a.m. and both coaches are expected to attend.

Joe Jamail, Brown's attorney, told the AP, "Mack Brown has not resigned." He went on to say Brown's future at Texas is up to him.

The UT Board of Regents also meets Thursday morning. One item they have to vote on is the future of Bill Powers as the school's president. Brown's future could also tie-in to the result of that vote.
