Texas A&M Quarterback Johnny Manziel Talks About Heisman Hype For First Time

Updated: Saturday, August 3 2013, 10:47 PM CDT

Texas A&M Head Football Coach Kevin Sumlin stuck to his rule.  Freshmen are not allowed to talk to the media.

Whether it was the pressure of knowing Johnny Manziel would have to speak when he gets his Heisman invite, or just because he felt it was time, Sumlin broke his own rule and finally allowed his star quarterback to get in front of a microphone.

Manziel spoke for 29 minutes in front of a crowd of about 100 people Tuesday.  He downplayed his Heisman Trophy chances, but said it would be a “dream come true” if he were to win.

The conversation with man they call “Johnny Football” ranged from his favorite play his arrest over the summer.  He also explained his long term goal – “to bring a national championship to Texas A&M.”
