Texas Wins Double Overtime Thriller

Updated: Wednesday, February 13 2013, 11:20 PM CST

Myck Kabongo let his play do the all the talking.

The UT sophomore returned from a 23-game suspension to
score 13 points and dish out seven assists as Texas knocked off Iowa
State 89-86 in double overtime.

Following the game Kabongo spoke in public for the
first time since an NCAA investigation began in June into a summer trip
he took to Cleveland.  Kabongo did not take questions, only issuing a
statement.

"The only thing I have to say really is just thank the
fans for coming out and the kids, and the people that have been
supporting us,” said Kabongo.  “They all know we play off their energy,
and it was a great team win.”

“It's not about me, and I don't want this to be about
me, so I'm not going to be answering any questions.  We're 1-0 with our
full team - it's all about these guys, it's not about me."

A UT official says the decision not to speak is Kabongo’s, not the University.

Texas trailed by 3 with 5.6 seconds left in
regulation.  Ioannis Papapetrou found Jonathan Holmes, who threw it
right back to Papi for the three to tie it.

The Horns had a chance to win it in the second overtime, but Javan Felix’s runner just rimmed out to force a second overtime.

Sheldon McClellan scored 10 of his team -high 18
points in the second OT.  Iowa State had a chance to tie, but Tyrus
McGee’s three was off and, after a scramble for the ball, Connor Lammert
covered it as time expired.Texas Wins Double Overtime Thriller
