4th Annual "Free Day of Dance" returns on Jan. 21

By Rob Faubion, Austin On Stage
The Austin dance community will again offer a full day of free dance classes for the 4th Annual "Free Day of Dance" on Sat. Jan. 21.

Austinites will have the opportunity to try partner dancing, and experience the different styles of social and ballroom dancing - including salsa, swing, two-step, waltz, cha cha, tango and more.

“Since the New Year is upon us, and people are already focused on living healthier lifestyles, our goal is to educate Austinites on the health benefits of dancing - and give people all over Austin a chance to experience the joy of dancing first-hand,” said Mylie Arnold, creator of the event and owner of Go Dance Studio.

More than 100 free dance classes will be offered city-wide from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Dancers and non-dancers alike are encouraged to take the free classes, as both beginning and intermediate class levels will be offered.  Last year, more than 800 people participated in the free instructional classes

“Dancing is such a great way to have fun, make friends and get fit,” adds Arnold.  “From reduced stress and decreased blood pressure to increased energy and muscle tone, we encourage Austinites of all shapes and sizes to make partner dancing a part of their healthy lifestyle this New Year.”

For more information and a complete schedule of the free dance classes, call (512) 339-9391 or visit FreeDayOfDance.com.
