AISD Superintendent To Testify At School Funding Trial


Austin's top school administrator will testify at Monday in a sweeping school finance trial.

Austin Independent School District Superintendent Dr. Meria Carstarphen is expected to focus on district’s needs, especially with changing demographics.

Earlier this month an early childhood education expert testified that the state now spends about 300-dollars less per child on pre-k programs than it did a decade ago.

Texas lawmakers cut full-day pre-k last year to save $300 million.

More than 600 school districts have sued the state over the way it finances schools, claiming the system is so inadequate and unfair that it violates the Texas constitution.

The case is expected to last into January
