Chuy's Parade To Close Some Downtown Austin Streets This Saturday

The annual Chuy’s Children Giving to Children Parade will result in street closures in the Downtown Austin area this Saturday. The parade is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. with street closures beginning as early as 6 a.m. and streets reopening at 2 p.m.

Complete road closures starting at 6 a.m. include San Jacinto Boulevard, East 15th through 10th Streets and the Ann Richards Bridge. All other street closures begin at 9 a.m. and include: Congress between 11th Street and the Ann Richards Bridge.

Cross town traffic will be allowed on 5th and 6th Streets until 10 a.m. and on Cesar Chavez St. until 11 a.m.

Drivers are encouraged to use extra caution in the downtown area due to high pedestrian traffic and the number of small children attending the parade.

The Chuy’s Children Giving to Children Parade is an annual toy drive benefitting Operation Blue Santa. Those attending the parade are encouraged to bring an unwrapped toy to donate for infants to four year olds and 8-14 year olds. In addition, the parade will feature giant inflatable balloons, live music, children’s entertainers, marching bands, holiday floats and Santa Claus.
