Round Rock Brothers Create Spectacular Light Display
It's a spectacular Christmas display right here in Central Texas, but the Christmas carols are anything but traditional.
House 2212 on Aaron Ross Way in Round Rock is the sexiest house on the block and it's got everyone dancing.
The Warnke brothers wanted to go all out with this year’s Christmas display - and they did.
“My favorite lights out here are the strobes,” said Eric Warnke. “There are 100 of them, and they're just very, very bright.”
In total, 20,000 lights adorn the Round Rock house. They twinkle in tune to more than a dozen different songs including Gangnam Style, I’m Sexy and I Know It and Alvin and the Chipmunks.
While the display is certainly intricate, it didn't take months to plan. In fact, the Warnke brothers only decided after Thanksgiving to take on the project. They purchased an online kit from the internet and spent a weekend installing and personalizing the display.
“We got a FedEx truck full of presents,” said Eric. “We spent 30 minutes opening it and organizing everything. December 25th has already come for me.”
It was a major investment in time and money, but one the brothers say is worth it.
“It’s a speed bump, people slow down and look at the lights,” said Eric. “We sit in a room and watch the cars go by. Having people slow down to look at something you created is pretty cool.”
And the brothers are already planning for next year. They say for their second-go-round, they plan to double –maybe even triple- their investment.
“It’s going to get a lot bigger next year. This is just our first time,” explained Eric.
The lights are on every night from 5:30 to 11 p.m. The Warnke’s say they’re happy to see people driving through their Round Rock neighborhood and looking at the lights.
There's actually a neighborhood light contest going on right now on Aaron Ross Way. The Warnke’s think they’re going win.
