Early Morning SWAT Standoff In South Austin Ends Without Injury


Austin Police responded to a man barricaded inside of a south Austin home early Monday morning.
 
Police say the call came in before 4:30 a.m. and the call originated as an aggravated kidnapping. Police and SWAT responded to a home at 6208 Blarwood Drive in south Austin, just north of West William Cannon and west of Manchaca Road.
 
According to police a man reportedly kidnapped a female and was holding her hostage at the house and had barricaded himself inside with a weapon. Just after 4:30 a.m. the female was released by the man. She was unharmed.

Police say the man came out of the house without incident just before 5 a.m. without incident. A second female inside the house also came out of the house unharmed.

Police took the man into custody and continue to investigate the incident.
