Austin-Area State Rep. Weighs In On Gun Control

On Tuesday, Austin-area State Representative Eddie Rodriguez announced that he has begun drafting legislation that would require training before being able to purchase certain types of firearms, a ban on high capacity clips and instituting a corporate tax credit to fund a gun buyback program.

Any legislation he comes up with would still need to be voted on by the Texas legislature and signed by the Governor to become law.

A statement released by Rep. Rodriguez says, "I support the second amendment. But there is still much we can do without encroaching on our right to bear arms. After all, let's not forget that the Second Amendment refers to a 'well-regulated militia.'"
