Windy Conditions Cause Austin Power Outages

Windy conditions across south central Texas are bringing down some tree limbs that are landing on power lines and causing power outages.

Early Monday morning there were more than 2,300 people in the Brodie Lane and West Gate Boulevard area without power. Austin Energy’s Ed Clark says that as of 7:45 a.m. power has been restored to all but 30 customers in that outage area. Crews will continue to work in the 8400 block of Brodie Lane to repair a pole located in the area. The replacement work should be complete by noon.

Clark says roughly 1,000 people are affected by another power outage in the Barton Hills and Rabb Road area. That outage is due to tree limbs on power lines.  Power was restored at 7:30 a.m.  Crews are removing the tree now.

A Wind Advisory is in place for south central Texas until noon. North winds will continue to range from 15-25 mph and begin to relax later this afternoon.
