Gas Restored To North Austin Apartment Complex


All residents of a North Austin apartment complex finally have gas service almost two weeks after losing it.

A major gas leak on Dec. 1 caused the problems at the Austin Commons on Rutland Drive, near Rundberg Lane and Metric Boulevard.

A resident told KEYE TV's Karen Kiley that Thursday night every building in the complex had gas.

While the repairs were being made, the apartment complex was required to provide residents with housing necessities such as hot water, heat, sanitary conditions, etc. The residents eventually received hot plates, space heaters and portable showers outside the buildings.
