Pflugerville ISD Votes To Keep Domestic Partner Health Benefits

The Pflugerville Independent School District voted Thursday night to maintain their decision to offer health benefits to domestic partners, both gay and straight, starting next year.

The district made the change in October after taking a look at its anti-discrimination policy. But school board members began hearing from citizens against measure.

Board members decided to discuss the policy again at Thursday’s meeting. The police was approved in a 5-1 vote.

Pflugerville ISD would be the first district in Texas to offer domestic partner benefits.  The benefits would go into effect Jan. 1.
