Getting Around The Trail Of Lights And How To Get There


Traffic has been significantly impacted by the Trail of Lights closures on Barton Springs Rd. It’s closed from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. between Robert E Lee and Columbus Dr. On Saturday and Sunday it closes at 3 p.m.

So to avoid the headache if you’re not going down there, you’ll want to avoid South Lamar Blvd, S 1st St and of course Barton Springs Rd. Even MoPac gets backed up so plan accordingly if you have to get on the freeway through the area.

If you’re heading down there, go early. The gates are open from 6:30 to 10 p.m. There are three shuttle pick up spots that begin picking up at 6 p.m. They’re at Barton Creek Mall, Republic Square Park and Krieg Field. The last shuttle leaves at 9 p.m. and the last pick up at the park is at 10:30 p.m.
