Man Steals from Blue Santa Collection Jar


KEYE TV received exclusive video of a man who stole cash out of a Operation Blue Santa donation jar on Friday afternoon.
It happened at Cabo Bob’s in South Austin. In the video the man reaches into the jar and grabs a handful of cash before he leaves the establishment.
The co-owner of the restaurant said the man distracted the workers behind the counter by paying with a $100 bill, the man then claimed he was not given the correct amount of change and as the workers sorted out the issue that is when the man took off with the stolen money.
KEYE TV showed the video to several South Austin residents and each of their reaction was complete shock as they watched the man steal money in plain sight.
 South Austin resident Nick McKinney said he said he could not believe that someone would take money from a good cause right before the holidays.
"Some people are fortunate to get any gifts and he's just taking away people that need it, McKinney said. “It’s not right."
Cobo Bob’s co-owner said they contacted the police and filed a report.
