Dozens Camp Out Overnight At AISD Headquarters To Speak Out
At least 30 people were camped out on the ground in front of AISD headquarters, some since 2 p.m. Sunday, including students, parents, and community members, for the chance to sign up to speak out on a controversial vote.
The AISD Board is voting Monday night on whether to delay putting the IDEA charter school into Eastside Memorial until the 2014-15 school year. The original contract called for it to be implemented in 2013-14. IDEA took over Allan Elementary during this year. Many of the people camped out were at last year’s meeting, some saying they want to make sure their voices are heard this time around.
The group should be allowed onto the plaza at 6:45 a.m., with sign up for citizens communication scheduled for 7:45 a.m.
