Motorcycle Santa Rolls In With Gifts For Austin Children

Hundreds of area motorcyclists rumbled through the streets of Austin on their bikes on Sunday, December 2. However, they weren’t just on any Sunday afternoon bike ride.

The ride was the 24th Annual Austin Motorcyclists Toy Run that benefits abused and neglected children in Austin.

Presents strapped to motorcycles are given to the boys and girls of Helping Hand Home for Children.

"Helping Hand Home is grateful to the Austin Area Motorcyclists for their years of dedication and support to the Home.  The children we serve have suffered abuse that is unimaginable. Our goal is to treat childhood trauma while focusing on the hope and opportunities tomorrow brings for our children,” said Executive Director Ted Keyser.

The Toy Run was founded by Dan Simmons of the Austin Area Motorcyclists in 1988. The event has grown so large that motorcyclists use a trailer to haul many of the gifts.
