Christmas Bureau's Assets Seized; Temporary Injunction Issued


A longtime Austin non-profit's assets have been seized after a criminal investigation.

Presents and donations given to the Christmas Bureau are unaccounted for, and now the Texas Attorney General's Office has gotten involved. They've seized the charity's assets and had a temporary injunction issued against it to cease all operations.

For years the bureau has teamed up with Operation Blue Santa to provide presents for less fortunate families in Austin. Weeks before distribution, the president of the non-profit, Shon Washington, was nowhere to be found.

KEYE TV talked to Washington last week, and he said the investigation is just a misunderstanding. When asked if he did anything wrong or took any money he said, "No sir, no sir, not a dime."

With the Christmas Bureau not serving many of the Texans it normally helps, Operation Blue Santa is taking on 6,000 more wish lists this year.
