Body Found In Southwest Austin Apartment Ruled Murder

Police say the body of a woman found in a Southwest Austin apartment Sunday afternoon was the result of foul play.

According to the arrest affidavit, 27-year-old Ryan Kyle Clarke (pictured), is charged with the first degree felony murder, of 26-year-old Cassandra Elizabeth Clark, at the Lantana Ridge Apartments, located at 6636 West William Cannon Drive, just south of Southwest Parkway.

Investigators say that on Saturday Clarke was found unresponsive inside a car at a Williamson County park by a sheriff's deputy. His lap was covered in blood and he was clutching a knife. He was taken to a hospital where he told a worker he had hurt someone at the Lantana Ridge Apartments.

Court documents say officers went to the apartment and were let in by management, that's where they found Cassandra Clark dead in what the affidavit called a "violent blood-letting event."

Investigators say the two were in a dating relationship and were both from Wisconsin. They had been in Austin for about a year.

Police say Clarke refused to cooperate further with investigators. They are still trying to determine a motive. The arrest affidavit says police had encountered the couple before in 2011 during a family disturbance call.

This is Austin's 32nd murder of 2012.
