What To Do If You Are Driving Into The Icy North
If your travels take you into the Texas Panhandle or points north, make sure you're prepared for any delays. Make sure to top off your windshield wiper fluid before you hit the road. The last thing you want to do if you encounter freezing weather is for your windshield washer to spray water on your windshield. And once you're on the road, keep an eye on that gas gauge. You don't want to be caught stuck or having to make a detour when you're low on gas. And in case you get stuck, make sure you're prepared to stay warm in your car. Always carry an emergency blanket.
TxDOT is making it easy for you to see what traffic hazards may lay ahead as you hit the road. They have all the trouble spots marked on www.drivetexas.org. It will show you where all the construction is as well as any weather issues along the way. There's also a mobile version of this site for those you checking traffic conditions on smart phones. Also keep keyetv.com bookmarked. You can slide that interactive radar around and see what kind of weather lies ahead wherever you are.
