Cedar Park Names Austin Assistant Chief Sean Mannix As Police Chief

An Austin assistant police chief is the new police chief of Cedar Park.

Sean Mannix takes over the job on Jan. 22.

Mannix began his career with the Alameda, California Police Department in 1983.  In 1992, he became an Austin police officer.  He was appointed as an Assistant Police Chief in 2009.

In Cedar Park, he will lead a department of 80 police officers and more than 30 civilians, and manage an annual budget of approximately $8.5 million.

Mannix says that he is looking forward to his new role.

"I am excited and honored by the opportunity to lead the fine men and women of the Cedar Park Police Department as we forge partnerships with the city's residents and businesses to keep Cedar Park one of the safest cities in Texas through community engaged policing," Chief Mannix says.
