Detroit Area Robbery Suspect Arrested In Northeast Austin


A robbery suspect on the run from the Detroit area was arrested Thursday afternoon in Northeast Austin.

Brandon Dominic Showers, 25, from Clinton Township, Michigan was arrested at around 2:30 p.m. without incident in the 5600 block of Cameron Road, just east of I-35 and north of 51st Street.

Showers was wanted on felony warrants from the St. Clair Shores Police Department and the Clinton Township Police Department, located in northeastern suburban Detroit.  Police say he robbed two convenience stores there at gunpoint last month.

Police say Showers has family ties to Austin. When investigators established surveillance on several family members of Showers Thursday morning they saw him entered a vehicle near a Cameron Road business.

He was immediately surrounded and taken into custody.  A weapon concealed on Showers was recovered, and Showers was taken into custody by the Travis County Sheriff’s Department pending his extradition to Macomb County, Michigan.
