2 Homes Burn In Southeast Austin


Two homes in Southeast Austin within blocks of each other were damaged in separate fires Monday morning.

The homes are located in the 7200 block of Thannas Way and the 4500 block of Magin Meadow Drive, respectively. The neighborhood is east of I-35 and south of William Cannon Drive.

The fires ignited at around 9:30 a.m. and crews were able to extinguish both in about thirty minutes.

Officials with the Austin Fire Departments say both homes were unoccupied. One was for sale, it suffered minor damage to a bedroom and smoke damage throughout, and the other was still under construction (pictured), it suffered major damage to the attic.

Investigators call it suspicious that the two fires were so close to each other, but are still trying to determine the cause.
